World Metrology Day

World Metrological Organization came into existence in 1950 March , later established as a specialised agency of the United Nations in 1951. This started a new dawn of international cooperation in metrology, hydrology and related science.

WMO idea began to pop in the world in the mid of 1930, as increase in importance of metrology. Late 1930 start of World war 2 proved to be hindrance and delayed it's setup. WMO is tasked to address metrological challenges, research, education on global scale.

Theme of 2024 WMO is "At the Frontline of Climate Action." The motto of this theme is to recognise the threat of climate change on our civilization and to focus on already existing potential catastrophic consequences.

WMO is directly involved in monitoring the global, regional and national conditions and make report. It's report conveys urgency for climate action to policy makers. WMO provides essential climate information, various tools. Guide and aid in decision making at country level and supports mobilization of climate finance for effective solutions.
